Cincinnati Bengals tight end Drew Sample will miss “several months,” according to head coach Zac Taylor. Sample suffered a knee injury in Week 2’s loss against the Cowboys that will need major surgery, likely sidelining him for the entire year.
ESPN’s Cincinnati Bengals reporter, Ben Baby, reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday.
Sample was a second round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Bengals, out of the University of Washington. His playing time increased in 2020, when the Bengals’ TE1, C.J. Uzomah suffered a season-ending injury.
In 44 games (25 starts), Sample has collected 458 yards and one touchdown on 58 total receptions. If his season ends with this knee injury, his 2022 season yardage will sit at -2 yards on just two receptions. Stay tuned for updates on his injury, and other injury news around the league.
