The Dolphins got their first win under their belt last Sunday against the New England Patriots. They will now face another divisional foe in the Buffalo Bills this Sunday. This will be the first home game of the regular season for the Dolphins. Even though they are at home, the Bills are still favored by a field goal going into this game. This is not surprising as the Bills are serious Super Bowl contenders this year. The Dolphins will have to be on top of their game if they want to come out of this game with a win. This article will preview the Dolphins’ upcoming game against the Buffalo Bills.
The Dolphins
Rushing Attack needs to improve
The key to this game for the Dolphins is to get the running attack going if the Dolphins have a chance at beating Buffalo. Myles Gaskin only had 49 yards in his last game against New England. The team as a whole only rushed for 74 yards. The offensive line needs to create better holes for their running backs. Gaskin’s is a talented running back and has a lot of upside with his quickness. Hopefully, he can bounce back against a tougher Bills defense. If he doesn’t then this could be a tough day for the Dolphins offense as the run opens up the rest of the field for Tua Tagovailoa‘s passing attack.
Mike Gesicki needs to be more involved in Week 2
Another big part missing from the Dolphins’ offense last week was getting tight end Mike Gesicki involved. He was only targeted two times during the New England game. Gesicki is one of the most explosive players on this Dolphins offense.
He has great hands and he always finds a way to get open down the field. He is also a tough and physical runner and can break tackles for a lot of extra yardage after the catch. The Dolphins will need him at his best on Sunday if they want the best opportunity to win.
Keep giving Waddle and Parker the Ball
The Dolphins did utilize their rookie wide receiver Jaylen Waddle well during the Patriots game. Miami needs to do the same thing this week and put the ball in Waddle’s hands often. He can burn defenses with his speed and route running. DeVante Parker was also big for the Dolphins during their last game. He led Dolphin’s receivers in yardage with 81 passing yards. If one of these receivers can get 100 yards receiving then the Dolphins have a great chance in this game.
The Defense needs to be on top of their game
The Dolphins defense did well at holding the Patriots to 16 points on Sunday. They put pressure on Mac Jones and stopped the Patriots on key possessions. Miami will need to do much of the same on Sunday. They will need to focus on making Allen uncomfortable in the pocket. The Dolphins will also need to force some turnovers. Hopefully, Xavien Howard can help in that department as he led the NFL last year in interceptions. If the Dolphins want a chance to win they will need to hold the Bills offense to 21 points at the end of the game. The Dolphins will have a hard time keeping up if they let the Bills go beyond that 21-point threshold. This concludes this game preview for the Dolphins game against the Buffalo Bills.
