The Miami Dolphins have lost a key member of their secondary. Safety Brandon Jones suffered a torn ACL in the Dolphins’ Week 8 win. Jones’ season is now over and the team will have to replace him on the back end of the defense.
PFF’s Ari Meirov reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday.
Jones was a third round selection by the Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft. In college, at the University of Texas, he made the Second Team All-Pro in 2019. He stayed in college for all four years of his eligibility, finishing with 233 tackles and four interceptions in 47 games.
So far in his NFL career, Jones has played in 38 games (starting in 24 of those). He only has one career interception, but has three forced fumbles and eight pass deflections. As a capable box safety, though, he has collected almost 200 career tackles and eight sacks.
