Does Russell Wilson Want out of Seattle?

Over the course of the offseason, trade rumors have surrounded Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. After recent reports, it turns out that these rumors may be true. With Wilson heading into the final year of his contract, he gave the team until April 15 to construct a new deal. If an agreement is not met by the deadline, then Wilson will not sign an extension with the team.

The deadline was not set by the NFL or the team, only by Wilson himself. If Seattle were to offer a deal after April 15, then it would be entirely up to the quarterback to decide what to do. But there has been some controversy leading to whether or not Wilson really wants to stay in Seattle. Former NFC West rival Tyrann Mathieu has given his thoughts on where Wilson wants to be.

As the deadline looms, a possible blockbuster trade becomes more and more realistic. But with as much success Wilson has brought to the Seahawks, it would be unlikely to see the team let him go.

Wilson’s Career

In 2018, Wilson played his seventh season. The five-time Pro-Bowler threw for 3,348 yards and 35 touchdowns. In addition, he rushed for 376 yards and finished with a passer rating of 110.9.

Over his seven years in the NFL, Wilson has thrown for 25,624 yards and 196 touchdowns. In this time, he has also proven to be a threat in the rushing game as well. Wilson has rushed for 3,651 yards and 16 touchdowns with Seattle. The quarterback has also led his team to two Super Bowls, winning one of them.

Throughout his career, Wilson has proved to consistently produce at an elite level. If a deal is agreed upon, the Seahawks will have secured their franchise quarterback once again. If not, Wilson may be elsewhere Week 1 of the 2019 season.
