Former Broncos wide receiver Demariyus Thomas was found dead in his home Thursday night. Early reports and statements from Thomas’ family intimate that the cause of death was due to a seizure caused by a medical issue.
The Broncos’ Twitter account released a statement in the aftermath of the news.
Thomas was first round selection in the 2010 NFL Draft out of Georgia Tech. He was selected to four Pro Bowls, two All-Pro Second Teams and won Super Bowl 50 with the Peyton Manning-led Broncos against the Carolina Panthers.
After spending nine years with the Broncos, he played for the Texans, Patriots and Jets briefly. He was not rostered again, leading to Thomas officially announcing his retirement on June 28, 2021. He scored 63 receiving touchdowns during his time in the league, on 9,763 yards. Stay tuned to TGH for more NFL news, including more details on the passing of Thomas.
