Defensive lineman DeForest Buckner has been traded back to the San Francisco 49ers, according to Tom Pelissero. The Colts will get a 2027 fourth-round pick in return.
Buckner, 32, is a three-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro who began his career with the 49ers. He became a Colt in 2020. During his NFL career, he has 101 tackles for loss and 75.5 sacks.
The Colts have already started trading players away in order to stock draft capital. They sent Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks earlier on Tuesday and now sent Buckner to the 49ers.
San Francisco should see improvement on the interior of the defensive line, which has given them problems this season. They are also expecting to get edge rusher Nick Bosa back soon.
