Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has been officially suspended for six games. The suspension comes after Hopkins was found to be in violation of the NFL’s Performance Enhancing Drugs policy.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news via Twitter on Monday afternoon.
Hopkins spent seven seasons as a Houston Texan, earning four Pro Bowl and three First Team All-Pro selections. He was then traded to the Cardinals, in somewhat shocking fashion as he was touted as one of the best receivers in the league. Arizona signed him to two-year, $54.5 million deal in 2020.
In 2020, Hopkins played all 16 games and earned another Pro Bowl berth. In 2021, he sat out a total of six games due to injury. The injury could have been the reason behind the PED usage. Expect Hopkins to eventually appeal the decision, and stay tuned to TGH for more NFL news.
