DeAndre Hopkins has officially agreed to terms on a new contract with the Tennessee Titans, his third team since being drafted into the NFL. The new contract is worth up to $32 million over two years (with incentives.) He’ll make a base salary of $12 million next year, with an opportunity to earn up to $15 million.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
For reference, Hopkins’ last contract, with the Cardinals, was worth $54 million over two years, and his previous contract was worth $81 million over five seasons (with the Texans). The somewhat diminishing contract numbers are to be expected with his age and injury history.
Hopkins was seen as most likely to sign with either the New England Patriots or Tennessee Titans on his free agency tour after being released by the Arizona Cardinals. The Titans are in a strange position, as some of their units are playoff-ready, others are far away from contention. Hopkins could help them reach the playoffs in the relatively easy AFC South.
