The Dallas Cowboys have traded a mid-round pick to the San Francisco 49ers for quarterback Trey Lance according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
UPDATE: The pick the Cowboys will send the 49ers is a 2024 fourth round selection.
Lance, 23, is the former no. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He posted a 2-2 record with the 49ers in two seasons as he battled injury. In his career, he has passed for 797 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions.
Dallas will use Lance as a backup to starter Dak Prescott. Prescott has had some injury issues over the past few seasons, so Lance could provide some insurance if it happens again in 2023.
