The Pittsburgh Steelers have agreed to trade cornerback Joey Porter Jr. to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2027 sixth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick, according to multiple NFL insiders.
Porter Jr. was one of the most sought-after trade candidates in recent weeks after a lengthy contract standoff with the Steelers while also dealing with a persisting back issue.
This is a big move for the Cowboys, who have a depleted secondary unit and will hope to get Porter Jr. on the field as soon as possible. Dallas will face the Texans this Sunday, but Porter’s status for the game remains uncertain as he continues to work his way back from his back injury.
Porter Jr. played 47 games in his three seasons with the Steelers and recorded 31 passes defensed and three interceptions. He’ll now get a fresh start with the Cowboys as the trade marks the end of a monthslong saga that began during the offseason.
