The Dallas Cowboys may be without one of their undisputed starts heading into training camp. All-Pro guard Zack Martin is reportedly ready to hold out of training camp because he is not pleased with his contract.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday.
Since being taken 16th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft, Martin has made his mark on the offensive line play of the Cowboys. He’s a six-time First Team All-Pro player and an eight-time Pro Bowler. Now, he is asking Dallas to restructure his deal to pay him more, which, in some cases, could actually save the Cowboys cap space.
Martin’s complaints aren’t unfounded. He is scheduled to make $7 million less than other offensive guards in the league, which is important because Martin is widely regarded as the best in the NFL. He was just named as the first 99 overall guard in EA’s Madden franchise since 2003.
