PFF’s highest graded center, Corey Linsley, is expected to sign a deal with the Chargers that will make him the highest paid center in the NFL. The details of the contract are not public yet, but all signs point to him getting a massive pay day as he leaves the cash-strapped Packers.
The NFL’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday afternoon.
The Chargers have their new franchise quarterback in Justin Herbert and are clearly looking for a stalwart center to help protect him and anchor the entire offensive line. Linsley has been a true standout in Green Bay, even though his impact is not always seen.
Green Bay is dealing with cap issues and could not afford to pay Linsley what he deserved, being the highest-rated center in the league. They did draft four interior offensive lineman in the 2020 draft, however, including a center out of Michigan who can take his place.
