The Washington Commanders have officially released offensive guard Andrew Norwell. The Cincinnati native Norwell joined the Commanders last season, and played 16 of 17 games, being placed on the PUP list on May 30 of 2023.
PFF’s Ari Meirov reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Norwell began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent picked up by the Carolina Panthers. He played there for four seasons before signing a big contract with the Jaguars. His Jacksonville Jaguars contract was worth $66.5 million over five years.
While with the Jags, he struggled with injury and eventually restructured his contract in 2021 to shorten the deal. Norwell signed with the Commanders in 2022, playing every single offensive snap during the games in which he was available.
