The Indianapolis Colts have elevated a kicker to their 53-man roster after releasing Rodrigo Blakenship after their Week 1 loss. Chase McLaughlin has been a member of Indianapolis’ practice squad since Blankenship’s release.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday.
Since signing as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills in 2019, McLaughlin has bounced around an impressive amount. He has been a member of an active roster or practice squad for eight different teams, signing with the Colts and Vikings twice.
On his career, he has made 43 of 50 field goal attempts (good for 75.5 percent). He has also made 71 of 73 extra point attempts (97.3 percent). McLaughlin also has a 39 percent touchback average on kickoffs. He will start at placekicker in Week 5.
