Former first round pick Malik Hooker will be unable to play for the rest of the 2020 NFL season according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Hooker tore his Achilles tendon Sunday versus the Minnesota Vikings.

This is devastating to Hooker who has not only dealt with a multitude of injuries his entire career, but is in a contract year after the Colts decided not to pick up his fifth year option. The Indianapolis Colts drafted Hooker 15th overall in 2017 and to many this seemed to be a steal. Hooker was seen to have the potential to be the next great safety and was being compared to players like Hall of Famer Ed Reed.
However Hooker’s career has been disappointing to this point. Hooker only played in 34 games in his first three seasons. Now he will have played in 35 of his first 64 after this year.
Some team may want to take a flier on Hooker this offseason depending on his rehab and how desperate they are at the safety position. This is unfortunate to happen to a player that was put in a position to either boom into a star be referred to as a bust.
