Saturday’s matchup turned out to be an upset as the six seed Indianapolis Colts defeated the three seed Houston Texans 21-7. With the victory, the Colts have now locked in their next playoff game against Kansas City Chiefs. The team hopes to continue their hot streak in Arrowhead Stadium this Saturday, Jan. 12.

The Colts headed into Saturday’s game as a slight underdog but proved to be the superior team by quickly jumping ahead 21-0 late in the second quarter. Although the Colts did not score in the second half, the 21 first-half points seemed to be enough to seal their win as the defense shut down the Texans completely. The only points the Colts allowed came from a questionable fourth-quarter touchdown from Keke Coutee.
Many have questioned if Andrew Luck would ever be the same after his 2017 shoulder surgery. But, after his 2018 campaign, Luck shows signs of being one of the best signal callers in the league. Luck made good on 19 completions for 222 yards and two touchdowns during the playoff showdown. With this, the quarterback demonstrates that he is still a dominant force in the playoffs.

Luck had an impressive performance, but, Marlon Mack stole the show. With 148 rushing yards on 24 carries and a touchdown, the second year back broke the franchise record for most rushing yards in a playoff game. Mack averaged 6.2 yards per carry on the day to put the Colts in position to defeat their division rival. Including the playoffs, Mack now has 1,056 yards on the season. Only in his sophomore season, Mack gives the Colts an electrifying running attack that will continue to prove tough to handle in the postseason.
The next stop in the Colts’ playoff run is in Kansas City. Patrick Mahomes and the high-powered Chiefs offense will take on Andrew Luck this Saturday at 4:35 PM ET.
The winning team will move on to the AFC championship game, one step closer to playing in Superbowl 53.
