Tight end Cole Kmet and the Chicago Bears have agreed to a long-term contract extension. Reports indicate that the new contract is worth $50 million over the next four years, with $32.8 million in guaranteed money.
The NFL’s official Twitter account reported the news on Wednesday.
Kmet was a second round selection (43rd overall) in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. He’s played in every single game since being drafted, starting all but seven, which all took place during his rookie season. In 2021 and 2022 he played and started in every game.
During the 2022 season, Kmet had 50 receptions for 544 yards and seven touchdowns. He had more catches (60) and yards (644) during the 2021 season, but had zero touchdowns. He’s now tied to the franchise until 2027.
