Cleveland Browns 2023 NFL Draft Profile

Publish Date: April 24, 2023

The 2023 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 27 as the first round picks are announced. The second and third rounds take place on Friday, and the whole thing wraps up with the fourth through seventh rounds on Saturday. TGH will be taking a quick look at the first few picks for some teams, and shedding some light on what direction they will go. Here is the Cleveland Browns NFL Draft profile for 2023.

Team Needs

Cleveland needs to beef up on the defensive line, including at edge rusher. A speedy linebacker might also be in order to pair with Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. Wide receiver is another potential area of need, but they’d really need to see some upside in a wideout pick.

Third Round

Pick #74: Zacch Pickens, DL, South Carolina

There is a decent chance Pickens will not be available with this pick, but with streaky talent at every position, Pickens may get lost in the shuffle given his lack of buzz. He’s expected to be pretty average, but the build and footwork suggest upside.

Pickens is a highly intelligent player already that can recognize schemes and gaps at an NFL-caliber. His moveset is surprising versatile, and his size and length are pretty much right in the wheelhouse of what you could ask for in the third round. He lacks “wow” factor, but there’s a good chance he’ll slot in right away.

Pick #98: Tyler Scott, WR, Cincinnati

As stated above, the Browns would need to see some major upside to take a wide receiver with one of their first two picks. Tyler Scott may not seem like that kind of guy at first blush, but this kid may be a Swiss Army knife in waiting.

First of all, he was a Junior Olympian-level sprinter, which speaks to his speed. He played running back in high school, and if Kevin Stefanski can figure out some wildcat and jet sweep looks in which to utilize him, this guy can be very dangerous. Scott’s not very physical, which means he’ll have to be drawn up plays in which he won’t be touched, but if they find a sweet spot for him, then he could be a problem for opposing defenses. Also, not that they’d be drafting him for this reason alone, but he screams “return man.”
