Cincinnati Bengals Franchise Tag A.J. Green

The Cincinnati Bengals have franchise-tagged wide receiver A.J. Green according to multiple sources.

Green, 31, has been one of the franchise’s best all-time players, but has dealt with injuries over the last few seasons, which made it hard to negotiate a long-term deal. He did not play at all in 2019 and has only played a full 16 game season in two of the four seasons before that.

He is a seven-time Pro Bowler who has spent his entire career with the organization after being selected by the Bengals in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Green has 602 receptions for 8,907 yards and 63 touchdowns in his career.

The Bengals now have a solid stable of weapons for projected first overall pick Joe Burrow to utilize. He’ll have Green, Tyler Boyd and running back Joe Mixon who have all impressed over recent seasons.
