The Chiefs have made a move for a wide receiver ahead of the post-Week 8 trade deadline. Kansas City sent one third round and one sixth round pick in 2023 to the Giants in return for Kadarius Toney. The third round pick was a compensatory pick the Chiefs received after Ryan Poles took the Bears’ GM job.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday.
Toney is in just his second year as an NFL receiver. He was chosen by the Giants in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft and played in 10 games during his rookie season, starting just four. He missed time due to an oblique injury and being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
In those 10 games, Toney had 420 yards on 39 receptions, which was good for second-most receiving yards on the Giants. He broke Odell Beckham Jr.’s team record for receiving yards by a rookie last year, also.
