The Buccaneers came into this game after their Monday Night loss to the Rams. The Chiefs, however, entered the game with a five-game winning streak and arguably the most dominating team in the league this season. Kansas City won the game 27-24.
Patrick Mahomes and wide receiver Tyreek Hill took charge in the first quarter, starting with a 75-yard pass to give them the 10-0 lead. Later in the quarter Mahomes threw another long 44-yard pass to Hill to give the Chiefs a comfortable 17-0 lead.

The Buccaneers’ defense struggled to stop both Mahomes and Hill. Mahomes ended the game with 37 completions, 462 passing yards and three touchdown passes while Hill ended the game with 13 receptions, 269 yards gained and three touchdown catches.
Tom Brady was finally able to get the Buccaneers on the board with a 37-yard pass to running back Ronald Jones. With a 29-yard field goal by Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker, the Chiefs extended their lead 20-7 at halftime.
The Mahomes-Hill duo was at it again in the third quarter when Mahomes threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Hill to further extend the Chiefs lead. However, the Bucs were not going to go down easy as Brady began his comeback magic in the fourth quarter.
Brady threw a 31-yard pass to wide receiver Mike Evans to put the Bucs just 10 points shy from the Chiefs. Brady again found Evans for a seven-yard catch to cut the lead even shorter. Because the Chiefs had two timeouts left after the two-minute warning, Mahomes kneeled and secured the win for the Chiefs 27-24.
After the game Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke about Hill’s impressive performance during the game and how much trust he has on him.
“We feel like he’s a pretty good matchup with anybody. He’s strong, quick and fast and the quarterback trusts him. I would put him against anybody. He’s been doing this all year,” said Reid to ESPN.
Mahomes spoke after the game about the coverage Bucs’ cornerback Carlton Davis had on Hill, which was the reason for Hill’s 269 yards and three touchdowns catch day.
“I don’t think it was necessarily about a matchup,” Mahomes also said to ESPN. “It was man coverage with no one over the top. We don’t get that a lot, especially with Hill and his ability and whenever we do, we try to take advantage of it.”
The Chiefs look to further extend their claim for the number one seed in the AFC when they head back home to Arrowhead Stadium for a Sunday Night matchup against the struggling Denver Broncos. The Bucs will remain second in the NFC South as they will head into their BYE week during Week 13.
