Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Chidobe Awuzie has suffered a season-ending injury. Although he is undergoing tests to confirm it, the team is all but sure that Awuzie has a torn ACL. If the ACL is deemed to be torn, he will not return until next season.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Awuzie is on the second year of a three-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. He played in 14 regular season games last year, recording two interceptions and 14 pass deflections as the Bengals made their way to Super Bowl LVI.
He played in all eight games so far this season, having five pass deflections and 35 total tackles (29 solo). Before joining the Bengals, he was drafted in 2017 by the Dallas Cowboys, spending the first four years of his career there.
