The wait is finally over for Cam Newton. The 31-year-old former MVP is signing with the New England Patriots according to NFL Networks Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport has also reported that Newton’s deal will be worth up to $7.5 Million.
Cam Newton was taken first overall by the Carolina Panthers in 2011. During his nine years there he was a three-time Pro Bowler. In 2015 Newton led the Carolina Panthers to a 15-1 record and a Super Bowl appearance. He also was a First-Team All-Pro, Offensive Player of the Year and League MVP that season.
Newton is expected to help the New England Patriots soften the blow of losing Tom Brady in free agency. Before this, the Patriots had last year’s fourth-round pick Jarrett Stidham slated to be there starting quarterback and veteran back up Brian Hoyer backing him up.
It is unknown if Newton will be handed the starting job or not, but at this point, Newton is the odds on favorite to start week one.
