The top free-agent cornerback on the market, Byron Jones, has agreed to a deal with the Miami Dolphins according to Ian Rapoport.
While all the details of the deal aren’t out, Jones will be the highest-paid cornerback in the league, with Rapoport estimating he will be paid $17 million or more per year.
Jones, 27, spent the first five years of his career in Dallas, where he played both safety and corner. He had 43 passes defended and two interceptions in his time as a Cowboy.
The Dolphins depleted their roster to acquire first-round picks, but are also building up their roster with free-agent signings. They have been active, as they also signed Ereck Flowers earlier in the day on Monday.
