The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are officially releasing wide receiver Antonio Brown. This decision comes after Brown removed his gear and walked off of the field during Tampa’s game against the New York Jets. Head coach Bruce Arians said in the postgame press conference that Brown was “no longer a Buc.” The team waited five days to make that statement a fact.
The NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the news via Twitter on Thursday.
The #Bucs are releasing WR Antonio Brown, as @AdamSchefter said. After a wild few days, he’ll go on waivers.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Brown’s agent requested that the $2 million in incentives he could have earned become guaranteed money. The team refused and the receiver was let go without earning them. He was reportedly eight catches, 55 yards and one touchdown away from half of those incentives.
After being released, Brown will go on waivers, allowing other teams to pick him up for the playoffs if they are so inclined. Given his questionable actions over the past few years, it may be a surprise if a team picks up Brown, despite his talent.
