New Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich has named his starting quarterback for Week 1 of the 2023-2024 season. First overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Bryce Young, will be the starter for the foreseeable future.
PFF’s Ari Meirov reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday.
As mentioned above, Young was chosen first overall by the Panthers after they traded the Chicago Bears for the opportunity to have the first selection. During his time at Alabama, Young won the Heisman Trophy in 2021 and a College Football National Championship in 2020.
To the pick that would eventually become Bryce Young, Carolina traded wide receiver D.J. Moore, their 2023 first rounder and second rounder, a first round pick in 2024 and a second round pick in 2025. The team seems committed to a rebuild with Young and Reich, who was let go from the Colts midseason last year.
