Publish Date: February 7, 2021

Britt Reid, an assistant coach for the Kanas City Chiefs, under investigation for DUI (Driving Under the Influence) following a car crash that left two children injured.

Britt Reid, son of team assistant coach Andy Reid, allegedly caused a multi-vehicle accident that occurred on  Interstate 435’s southbound ramp, right next to the home field of the Chiefs, Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday, February 4. Kansas City Police reported the accident involved three vehicles and left two children injured, with one in critical condition.

The police reported, a Chevy Impala broke down on the southbound ramp near Arrowhead Stadium. The owner called a family member for assistance, who brought two children with them. The family member arrived in a Chevy Traverse parked next to the Impala. Then a Dodge Ram truck struck both vehicles, leaving a four-year-old and a five-year-old injured. The five-year-old is currently in critical condition according to reports. The driver sustained no injuries.

Police said signs of Reid’s impairment, such as “bloodshot eyes” and “acholic oder”, were evident. Reid told officers he consumed “two or three drinks” before operating his vehicle.

Reid is on record for multiple DUI contacts in the past according to police, along with past record of legal troubles.

In 2007, police charged Reid with an unlicensed carrying of a firearm, after he threatened a motorist during an episode of road rage. Reid received an eight- to 23-month sentence and five months probation.

The Chiefs released a statement about Reid, saying ” The organization has been made aware of a multi-vehicle crash involving Outside Linebacker Coach, Britt Reid. We are in the process of gathering information, and we will have no further comment at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved.”

The Chiefs play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers today in the Super Bowl at 6:30 pm eastern time.
