The Buffalo Bills have extended head coach Sean McDermott on a multiple-year deal. McDermott has been the head coach since the 2017 season, in which the Bills went 9-7 and made the playoffs, ending their 18-year playoff drought.
The NFL’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday afternoon.

After a 6-10 campaign in 2018, the Bills returned to form in 2019. They finished the season with a 10-6 record and again made the playoffs. In both of McDermott’s playoff seasons, Buffalo was ousted in the Wild Card round in close games.
With Tom Brady leaving New England and many Patriots opting out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19, the Bills are given the highest odds to win the AFC East. McDermott returning on a multi-year deal will give Buffalo confidence they are setting up to be the new power in the East.
