The Cincinnati Bengals have had two guards retire since the start of the league year, as Christian Westerman called it quits on Friday. His decision was first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The #Bengals lost another O-lineman to retirement: Christian Westerman was placed on the Exempt/Left Squad, per the wire. He’s made his decision.

Westerman, 26, didn’t play in Cincinnati’s second preseason game against Washington on Thursday night for personal reasons. The Bengals placed Westerman on the Exempt/Left Squad list. He was expected to compete for the starting left guard job.
WIthout Westerman veteran John Jerry and rookie Michael Jordan will compete for the left guard position.
Earlier this offseason, Clint Boling retired. With both Westerman and Boling gone, the Bengals are pretty thin on the interior of the offensive line.
