The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Baker Mayfield have agreed to a 3-year, $165M contract extension, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
This deal came as a surprise, as Mayfield and the Buccaneers had broken off contract talks just before the start of training camp, but had resumed talks this past weekend and were able to lock in a deal just five days before the start of the 2026 regular season.
Mayfield’s new deal averages out to $55 million per season, which is tied for third-most in the league. Mayfield earned Pro Bowl honors in each of his first two seasons with Tampa Bay and also helped lead the team to NFC South division titles in 2023 and 2024.
The former 2018 first overall pick has had a career resurgence in his three seasons with Tampa Bay, and his new extension will keep him with the Buccaneers through the 2029 season.
