In Thursday’s preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons, Jets’ inside linebacker Avery Williamson went down with a leg injury. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is now reporting that the injury is a torn ACL and Williamson will be out for the season.

Williamson, 27, was a leader on New York’s defense and was calling the plays this preseason. He and C.J. Mosley were projected to give the Jets some of the best inside linebackers in football.
In 2018, Williamson had 120 tackles for the Jets. The five-year veteran played the first four seasons of his career with the Tennessee Titans before joining the Jets last season.
