Burns played in 10 games last season, starting in only one. The Steelers declined his fifth-year option, which made him a free agent. The Bears signed him to a one-year, $1 million-plus contract before 2020 football activities began.
His best year came during his freshman campaign, when he played all 16 contests but started in only nine. He collected three interceptions and defended 13 passes, also racking up a 65 combined tackles on the season.
Now, Burns will rehabilitate his injury and try to rework his deal to get back on the field.
