The Arizona Cardinals are signing former Chiefs running back Darrel Williams. Kansas City let Williams’ contract expire in the 2022 offseason, and did not sign him despite Patrick Mahomes reportedly lobbying for his return.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday.
Williams went undrafted out of Louisiana State University in the 2018 NFL Draft, but was signed by the Chiefs in May of the same year. He remained in Kansas City from 2018 until 2021, winning the Super Bowl with the Chiefs in 2019, despite being on injured reserve.
In total, Williams has played in 51 NFL games, starting seven. On 237 rushing attempts, he has totaled 912 yards and 10 touchdowns. Equally as impressive is his receiving prowess, as he has a career 762 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 83 catches.
