Brown was traded from the Steelers to the Raiders this offseason for a third and fifth-round NFL Draft pick. After spending the offseason with the Raiders, numerous events eventually led to the team releasing him on Saturday. In the afternoon, Brown already had agreed to terms with the Patriots.
The Patriots have added a lot to their wide receiver corps this offseason. They drafted N’Keal Harry, who is currently on IR. New England will have Josh Gordon back from suspension, Demaryius Thomas and Julian Edelman to go along with Brown. With the Patriots losing Rob Gronkowski this offseason to retirement, getting as many targets as possible for Tom Brady became imperative.
New England will play Pittsburgh on Sunday, but Brown will not be active for the game.
