Buccaneers safety Antoine Winfield, Jr. suffered a concussion in Tampa Bay’s Week 7 loss to the lowly Panthers. It is being reported that he will not be cleared to play in time for Week 8’s Thursday Night Football game against the Ravens.
PFF’s Ari Meirov reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Winfield was a second round draft pick of the Buccaneers in 2020. In his rookie year he and the Bucs won the Super Bowl. The next year, he was selected to his first Pro Bowl even though he played in just 13 of 17 games.
So far in his career, Winfield has played (and started) in 29 total games, grabbing 182 combined tackles, 12 pass deflections, three interceptions and four forced fumbles. Two of those picks and forced fumbles came in 2021, leading to his Pro Bowl selection.
