Rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson will be out at least four weeks with an AC joint injury in his shoulder. The Colts have put the promising rookie on IR, meaning Gardner Minshew will take over quarterback duties in his stead.
The Indianapolis Colts reported the news themselves via Twitter on Wednesday.
Richardson has played and started in four games so far this year, playing 173 snaps in those games. That’s good for just 67% of snaps, as he has left games on multiple occasions due to injuries, mostly on his shoulder.
He is currently 50 for 84 on passing attempts (59.5 percent), for 577 yards, three touchdowns and just one pick. Richardson has also rushed 25 times for 136 yards and four more scores. His backup, Minshew, has thrown for over 550 yards and two touchdowns in relief of Richardson.
