Amazon has found its new analyst for Thursday Night Football broadcasts. Kirk Herbstreit is an ESPN mainstay who mostly does analysis for college football. He is both an in-game commentator and a panelist on College Gameday. The two sides are finalizing a deal.
PFF’s Ari Meirov reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Herbstreit was a quarterback for Ohio State University from 1989-1993. His father also played for the school, and both men were named captains of their respective teams while enrolled. He held the Ohio State pass completions record (28) from 1992-2006.
Former Thursday Night Football commentator Troy Aikman recently left Fox to join ESPN’s Monday Night Football booth. Herbstreit was among many popular football names to replace Aikman. For the past two seasons, Monday Night Football was using a three-man booth with Steve Levy, Brian Griese and Louis Riddick.
