Star wide receiver
Allen Robinson
hits the free agent market this offseason. The former Bears wideout was a major threat in Chicago, racking up 255 catches and 17 touchdowns in three years. He achieved two straight 1000 yard seasons, an especially impressive feat considering the quarterbacks throwing to him.
As the most consistent player on the Bears offense in recent years, Chicago’s front office should be doing everything in their power to re-sign Robinson. However, the two sides have had over a year to get a deal done without much progress. This is disheartening for those hoping Robinson will stay in Chicago.
On Super Bowl Sunday, Robinson tweeted about his desire to win a Super Bowl, another bad sign for a Bears team that is by no means ready to make a deep playoff run.
However, in an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio on Thursday, Robinson emphasized that “At this point, I’d pretty much be open to anything on the table,… I’ve always said that I’ll be here if they have me.” He also mentioned that “[He’s] got nothing but respect and appreciation for the franchise and for the organization.”
This is good news for Bears fans. Robinson wants to return to Chicago – just for the right price.
General Manager Ryan Pace will need to be willing to shell out the big bucks to bring Allen Robinson back. Fortunately, Robinson is not frustrated with the organization. However, he made it clear that two sides have not been in contact recently. Chicago just needs to hope that this will change.
