The 2023 season has been full of head coaching changes, so here’s TGH’s official concise list of coaching changes and replacements. This list will be updated as needed, so be sure to check back to get the latest updates on all NFL head coaching and coordinator shake-ups.
Fired: OC Ken Dorsey
Replacement: Joe Brady
Buffalo felt like it needed a changing of the guard after losing to the Broncos, and that change came in the offensive coordinator’s booth. Dorsey’s offense ranked seventh in yards per game and eighth in points per game. The team was 5-5 when they elevated Joe Brady.
Fired: HC Frank Reich
Replacement: Chris Tabor
The Panthers jumped all the way up to the top of the draft to grab their quarterback of the future, Bryce Young. Under Frank Reich, they amassed a record of just 1-10, and do not own their first round pick in 2024, which, as of now, would be the number one overall pick.
Fired: HC Josh McDaniels
Replacement: Antonio Pierce
Even to non-die hards, it was clear that the Josh McDaniels experiment in Vegas was at worst, very bad and, at best, taking much too long to pay dividends. Reports leaked that the players were frustrated at the mediocrity of their record, and McDaniels was fired as a head coach before reaching the two-year mark for the second time in his NFL career.
Fired: Matt Canada
Replacement: Eddie Faulkner
Matt Canada saw vitriol that few non-head coaches or star players have ever seen in the sports landscape. Chants of “Fire Canada” erupted at Acrisure, at Penguins games and even on College Gameday. Despite their winning record, the Steelers had not outgained a single opponent until the game after he was fired.
