The Colts’ second round draft pick, Alec Pierce, has developed symptoms of a concussion after their Week 1 game against the Texans, which ended in a tie. Pierce has officially entered the NFL’s extensive concussion protocol.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday.
As stated above, Pierce was a second round draft pick by the Colts in the 2022 NFL Draft, out of the University of Cincinnati. He was a member of the Cincinnati team that became the first non-Power 5 conference team to make the College Football Playoff.
In his first (and only) NFL game, he was targeted twice by the Colts’ new quarterback Matt Ryan, but had no receptions. Pierce will now enter the five-step concussion protocol and clear all steps before he can return to the field.
