The Pittsburgh Steelers have agreed to a contract with free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers according to Tom Pelissero. Rodgers, 41, will fly to Pittsburgh and sign the deal next week before participating in minicamp.
Last season for the Jets, Rodgers passed for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions on 63 percent completion. It was his second season with the Jets after he tore his Achilles in the season opener of 2023.
He will be etnering his 21st NFL season, which includes time spent with the Jets, but the majority of his career came with the Packers. Over his career, he has passed for 62,952 yards, 503 touchdowns and 116 interceptions on 65.1 percent completion. Rodgers is a 10-time Pro Bowler, four-time All-Pro and four-time MVP.
In Pittsburgh, Rodgers will take over as the presumed starter. The two quarterbacks to start games last year, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, moved on in free agency to the Giants and Jets, respectively. Rodgers will be hoping to lead the Steelers further in the playoffs after they were bounced early following a 10-7 regular season record.
