Aaron Rodgers is returning to the Packers. He and Green Bay reportedly agreed on a 4-year, $200 million deal with $153 million guaranteed. This deal would make him the highest paid player in the history of the entire NFL.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday.
Rodgers was reportedly weighing multiple options during the offseason. It was unclear whether he would return to the Packers, request a trade, or even retire. Among the teams that were frontrunners for a potential trade were the Broncos, Colts and Titans.
He has won the last two MVP awards, doubling his career total before that point. Now, there is only one player with more MVP awards, as Peyton Manning holds the record with five. The next question surrounding the Packers is what will happen with Davante Adams. It is expected that the team will franchise tag Adams and work out a long term deal afterwards.
