Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will miss Sunday’s versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Rodgers has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list and will be eligible to return after two consecutive negative tests at least 24 hours apart.
With Kurt Benkert also testing positive for COVID, Jordan Love now remains the only healthy quarterback on the roster.
The NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the news via Twitter
Rodgers won the NFL MVP award in 2020 and is well on his way to securing another one. He is completing 67.1 percent of his passes and has thrown for 17 touchdowns to only three interceptions through eight games. He has also thrown for 1,894 yards, putting him on track for a 4,000 yard passing season.
The NFL world was looking forward to this matchup, which would have been the first between Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers. The Chiefs and Packers played in 2019, but Mahomes was out with injury. Now Rodgers will be out with COVID, robbing fans of the matchup twice.
