Aaron Rodgers Divides Packers Fan Base, According to Owner

Publish Date: June 6, 2021

In his monthly column, Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy said that the situation regarding veteran Packer quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, has splintered the fanbase.

Civil war brews in the Packer fan base, as fans take sides on the Aaron Rodgers situation, at least according to the Packers president, Mark Murphy.

“The situation we face with Aaron Rodgers has divided our fan base. The emails and letters that I’ve received reflect this fact.” Murphy said in one of his monthly columns. Despite his disagreements with the Packers president, Rodgers agrees with Murphy about the fan base being divided. However, Rodgers believes it Murphy’s actions that are dividing the fanbase, by trying to satisfy fans that want Rodgers to stay with the team.

Murphy has stated in the past that the Packers are “committed to Aaron Rodgers to 2021 and beyond” and his stance hasn’t changed.

“As I wrote here last month, we remain committed to resolving things with Aaron and want him to be our quarterback in 2021 and beyond. We are working to resolve the situation and realize that the less both sides say publicly, the better.”

The Packers have also publicly stated that they have no intentions of trading Rogers.

Is Aaron Rodgers Serious About Leaving?

While it’s still up in the air on what Rodgers’s intentions are regarding the situation. Murphy believes that his actions will be more revealing once the mandatory camps and practices begin. Rodgers has already skipped the voluntary practices in favor of vacationing with his wife in Hawaii.

While this was only a voluntary practice, most veteran players like Rodgers, show up. Especially if they are quarterbacks. Murphy even added, “that many teams have significant offseason workout bonuses in the contracts of veteran players.”

Many analysts and fans believe if Rodgers skipping the offseason workouts is a way to force the Packers to trade him.
