Washington Commanders’ cornerback William Jackson was benched and is now requesting a trade. Here are five potential trade destinations for William Jackson.
Arizona has started off the season 2-3 and are in third place in the NFC West. They have an uphill battle if they want to make the playoffs. Byron Murphy has played well at corner, but the Cardinals aren’t getting much good play from anyone else at the position.
If the Cardinals want to maximize their potential this season, they should make a move for Jackson. It likely wouldn’t take too much draft capital to acquire Jackson because he was just benched. Arizona could give a mid to late-round pick and improve their secondary in the process.
The Raiders are another team who have started off the season slowly. They are 1-4, which is disappointing after acquiring Davante Adams and Chandler Jones this offseason after they made the playoffs last season. Their secondary could really use some improvement, especially with the talented quarterbacks they play in the AFC West.
Nate Hobbs has been a solid corner for the Raiders, but they need some more players to step up. If they can’t find that in-house, they may need to make a trade. Jackson provides a cheap option that the Raiders could definitely afford.
Kansas City has been one of the best teams in the league once again this season. They are 4-1 and the offense hasn’t missed a beat without Tyreek Hill, who is now in Miami. As always, the defense may be what limits this team moving forward and they can upgrade at the corner position.
L’Jarius Sneed is a good corner for the Chiefs. Rashad Fenton has struggled and Trent McDuffie is a rookie who is injured. McDuffie will return to practice soon, but if the Chiefs want more experience at the position, a move for Jackson could be a cheap way to improve the position.
Minnesota is leading the NFC North right now and look like they can make the playoffs. Their offense has all the talent in the world. The defense has some holes that could be filled. They are allowing 20.4 points per game and can improve on that.
One way to get the quality of the defense improved would be to acquire a cornerback. Patrick Peterson’s best days are behind him and a new corner is needed across from Cameron Dantzler. The Vikings wouldn’t have to give up much to get Jackson and they could play the better player between him and Peterson.
Pittsburgh has a 1-4 record so far on the season. It doesn’t look like they are going to be competitive this season, but the Steelers are a team who never surrenders. They have young pieces on offense trying to figure things out, but their defense is solid. They just have a few weaknesses to work on.
One of those weaknesses is the cornerback position. They have Cameron Sutton and Ahkello Witherspoon starting. Sutton is solid, but Witherspoon has not been playing well. If the Steelers still think they have a chance to compete this season, they can acquire Jackson to help their secondary.
