5 Potential Trade Destinations for Nelson Agholor

Publish Date: October 28, 2019

Nelson Agholor isn’t necessarily on the trade block, but the Eagles could elect to trade him. He has had trouble with drops and giving consistent effort. The Eagles aren’t the strongest at the wide receiver position, but still may choose to move on from Agholor. Here are five potential trade destinations for Nelson Agholor.

1. Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis has kept themselves in the race for a playoff appearance even without Andrew Luck. They may need just a little more firepower to get over the hump and into the playoffs though. NFL.com’s Marc Sessler theorized that the Colts could make a swap that brought in Agholor in a recent article. That move would make sense for both teams.

The Colts have a good offensive line and running game, but they could give Jacoby Brissett more weapons. They could get Agholor at a decent price, which would give them another decent receiver to go with their star T.Y. Hilton. Indianapolis could five up a mid-round pick to acquire the former first-rounder. Frank Reich won a Super Bowl with Agholor, so maybe he’ll want to work with him again.

2. New Orleans Saints

New Orleans just got back their star quarterback Drew Brees. Even without him, they won games and staved off the rest of the NFC South competition. One area they could improve is their wide receiving core. Michael Thomas signed a mega-deal this offseason, but after that, the Saints are pretty thin.

To make their offense more explosive, they could acquire Agholor. If anyone can get the most of Agholor’s talents it might be Sean Payton. Agholor working with Brees every day in practice would help him reach his full potential as well. The Saints would be more than willing to part with a mid-round draft pick to get more talent on the outside of their offense.

3. Buffalo Bills

This offseason the Bills restructured their receiver room and got a lot of shorter and quicker players. The offense could benefit from a more traditional receiver like Agholor to complement the ones already on the roster. At 5-2, Buffalo certainly looks like a team that can make the playoffs in the AFC, so getting more talent on the roster will help.

The Bills will likely be willing to move some of their draft picks for Agholor, as they look like they will make the playoffs and they have a young core that should grow over the next few years. Getting Agholor would help the team’s future more than most fourth-round picks. Josh Allen should be given more weapons to utilize so that he can have a chance to develop as a better quarterback.

4. Oakland Raiders

The Raiders are 3-4 this season, which is a lot better than most expected. They are reportedly going to be buyers at the trade deadline, as they try to make a playoff push. Their top receiver Tyrell Williams should be back in the lineup this week after dealing with plantar fasciitis. Even with Williams back, another wide receiver would really improve this offense.

Oakland will most likely want to target a pass rusher first, but getting a wide receiver wouldn’t be a bad idea either. The offense will need to score more than 21.6 points per game to stay in the playoff race. The Raiders have acquired picks with trades over the last few years and should feel comfortable giving one or two up for Agholor.

5. Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore has taken control of the AFC North and look like they could have some success in the playoffs. The offense has been dynamic with Lamar Jackson leading the way. Chris Moore, Willie Snead, Marquise Brown and Miles Boykin make up the major players at the receiver position.

Boykin and Brown have played well for rookies, but they are still developing. Moore and Snead could be upgraded. Agholor would be an upgrade if he can hang on to the football. Baltimore should be willing to part with a mid-round pick for Agholor, as they look like one of the favorites to come out of the AFC this season.
