3 Possible Landing Spots for OBJ

Publish Date: October 20, 2022

Odell Beckham, Jr. is still a free agent after winning Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams. Now, OBJ is considering multiple landing spots.

He joined the Rams last season after a tumultuous stint with the Cleveland Browns came to an end with his release from the team. He chose Los Angeles from a list of suitors, which paid off immediately as Robert Woods went down with injury, making him the number two receiver in short order. He ended with 305 yards and five touchdowns in eight games in a Rams uniform.

Beckham is still recovering from the ACL tear he suffered in the Super Bowl, but he clearly is not the diminished receiver that NFL fans saw in Cleveland. If he is schemed correctly, he can still be a dynamic playmaker, barring the injury changing his career trajectory.

Here are three potential landing spots for OBJ.

Los Angeles Rams

OBJ has all but said that the Rams had their chance to re-sign him, but head coach Sean McVay has said that the team hasn’t made their final offer to him yet. It may not be as long of a shot for him to return to the team that delivered him a ring as it might seem.

Los Angeles is struggling on offense this season, as Allen Robinson hasn’t made as much of an impact as most thought he would. Cooper Kupp is essentially the only reliable player on the offense since their running game also took a step back. Adding Beckham back to this receiving core opens things up for everyone, and could be the key to a repeat. They’ll have to pay him pretty handsomely to return, though.

Green Bay Packers

There has been a fair amount of noise surrounding a potential team-up of Rodgers and OBJ since he began the 2022 season as a free agent. The excruciating play of the offense is only adding fuel to that particular fire, since the Packers have not been able to get anything going after losing Davante Adams.

Signing with Green Bay is not just giving OBJ a decent chance to win a ring, it’s also a chance to show off his talent as a true WR1 again. This is without a doubt the move that would ensure Beckham the most targets and allow him to compile the most stats. While Rodgers hasn’t been good, he did just win back-to-back MVPs with a great wideout. He could very well be the key to unlocking this entire offense.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs fell short of a third-straight Super Bowl appearance, and very badly want to get back before Mahomes’ insane contract balloons his cap hit to a staggering number. Kansas City lost Tyreek Hill in the offseason and have still put the most points per game in the league. Grabbing Beckham to help mitigate the Hill damage further could all but ensure another Super Bowl run if he is used correctly.

Joining the Chiefs may not be the best long-term option as far as his finances go, but this is the place to go if he wants to have a legitimate shot for another ring for years to come. Yes, the Rams are good too, but they just got over the hump and needed some luck in both the NFC Championship and the Super Bowl to win. The Chiefs do not need that kind of luck, just the play of Patrick Mahomes.
