3 games to Look out for During the Eagles Season

Three games to look out for during the Eagles season

Late Wednesday evening, the Eagles schedule was released. Fans everywhere found out what lies ahead for Philadelphia in the upcoming season. The Eagles seem to have a pretty tough schedule going into the 2021 season. They will face a few elite teams that made noise last year during the season and will continue to make noise during the upcoming season. This article will give NFL fans three games to look out for during the Eagles season.

Eagles vs Falcons, 9/12, 1:00 PM

The first game of the season is always one of the most exciting games of the year. This is where fans get their first look at how their favorite team will fair for the rest the season. The Eagles have a road game right off the bat against Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons. This will be Nick Sirianni’s first game as the head coach of the Eagles as he looks to get the team off to a fast start. The Eagles will come into this with three possible quarterbacks with Jalen Hurts, Joe Flacco and Jamie Newman. This is also the game where we will get our first look at Devonta Smith, who the Eagles drafted in the first round this year in the draft. Eagles fans everywhere will hope to see production from him right away, as he will look to get his NFL career started in style.

Another interesting aspect of this game will be the Eagles secondary. They will have to go against Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. This will be a great opportunity to see if the Eagles made the right decisions  in that department since they struggled last year. The early line on this game is -3.5 in favor of the Falcons.

Buccaneers vs Eagles, 10/14, 8:20 PM

This will be another interesting matchup for the Eagles in 2021. This time it will be a home game against the reigning Super Bowl Champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Eagles defense will have the opportunity to face off against one of the most efficient offenses of 2020 with Tom Brady at the helm. This game is also one of the few prime time games the Eagles have on their schedule as it will be played Thursday night.

The Eagles will need to find ways to score in this game, if they will have any shot. They will be able to do this by getting the running game going with Miles Sanders and company. This in turn would open up the offense for some passing plays down field. Again, Devonta Smith is the Eagles x-factor this season. If they cannot get him going, then it will be a rough year in Philadelphia. The Eagles will more than likely be underdogs going into this game. They do have home field advantage as Philadelphia fans will be rocking come game time.

Eagles vs Cowboys, 9/27, 8:15 PM

The Eagles will travel to Dallas for their first of two primetime games during the season. This is an important game for the Eagles in a couple of ways. The Cowboys are the team that dashed the Eagles hopes of a playoff berth in the 2020 season. The Eagles should have chip on their shoulder during this game as they will be looking for payback. This is also the first conference game of the season for the Eagles. The Eagles will need to get off to a great start in conference play to keep up within the division race. The Cowboys seem to be the odds-on favorite to win the division in 2021, which makes this game even more important. Philadelphia will have to deal with the Cowboys potent quarterback-running back combo in Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott. This is a game where the Eagles will be most likely the underdogs as Dallas looks better on paper and the game is in Dallas.

Overall, the Eagles do have a tough schedule in front of them. There are a few honorable mentions that fans should take note of. The Eagles have important games against the Chiefs at home, the Raiders in Vegas, the Chargers at home and the rest of the NFC East. The odds are stacked for the Eagles this upcoming year, but don’t count them out, as things could turn wacky like the 2020 season did in the NFC East. These are the games to look out for during the Eagles season.
