Tyler Warren NFL Draft Profile

Publish Date: February 17, 2025

The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Tyler Warren NFL Draft Profile.

Tyler Warren Background

Position: Tight End

School: Penn State

Size: 6-foot-6, 261 pounds

Class: Senior

2024 stats: 104 receptions, 1.233 receiving yards, 8 touchdown catches, 11.9 yards per catch, 26 rushes, 218 rushing yards, 4 rushing touchdowns

Warren was a three-star recruit in the class of 2020 who signed with Penn State out of Virginia. He didn’t register a stat in 2020 and then had 61 receiving yards in 2021. Warren continued his development in 2022, as he hauled in 10 passes for 123 yards and three touchdowns. He started to become a bigger part of the offense in 2023, as he had 34 catches for 422 yards and seven touchdowns. His play helped the Nittany Lions win 10 games that season. In 2024, Warren took his game to another level with 104 receptions for 1,233 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He led the team to a 13-3 record and an appearance in the College Football Playoff semi-finals.

Following the season, Warren has been preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a first-round pick.

Tyler Warren Strengths

Warren has good size for the position at 6-foot-6 and 261 pounds. With his size, he also has solid play strength. He has a big catch radius, which makes him a matchup problem for both linebackers and safeties. His size will allow him to be an in-line tight end, which is something a lot of players in this class lack.

Through the 2024 season, Warren displayed good athletic ability. He has solid acceleration at the start of a play. While his top speed is far from elite from the position, he at least can get up to decent speeds. Warren has solid agility, but even more impressive is his body control. He has the ability to pull in passes from off of his frame and to high point the football.

He is great with the ball in his hands. Warren’s decent speed and good size make him a difficult player to tackle. He has good open-field vision as well. He has the ability to run through arm tackles and run over defensive backs. Penn State used him as a wildcat quarterback because of how good he was with the ball in his hands.

Tyler Warren Weaknesses

Warren has decent speed, but likely won’t be a constant threat to attack the seams of a defense. He can be a good security blanket and has the ability to run after the catch, but he won’t be a deep threat for an offense. Warren will pick up key first downs and touchdowns as a red-zone threat, but won’t produce a ton of huge gains.

His route-running can improve to make him more well-rounded. Warren can have trouble getting in and out of breaks, which makes it tough for him to separate. Focusing on running crisper routes and not rounding them off can prove to make Warren even more open at the next level.

Earlier in his college career, Warren did have some struggles with drops. He has since cleaned that up, which helped him have such a good 2024 season. While it appears he has improved his hands, he will need to make sure that his hands stay reliable at the NFL level.
