The 2024 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Tyler Nubin 2024 NFL Draft Profile.

Tyler Nubin Background

Position: Safety

Size: 6-foot-1, 199 pounds

Class: Senior

2023 stats: 53 total tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 sack, 5 interceptions, 4 passes defended, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery

Nubin spent a lot of time in college, gaining a lot of great experience for Minnesota. He is now in the 2024 NFL Draft.

As a four-star recruit out of the class of 2019, Nubin signed with Minnesota out of Illinois. He played sparingly in 2019 before having a bigger role in 2020. Nubin racked up 41 tackles and one interception that season. Minnesota went 3-4 that season. In 2021, he totaled 52 tackles, three interceptions and two passes defended. His play aided the Golden Gophers in winning nine games. For the 2022 season, he had 55 tackles, four interceptions and three passes defended. Minnesota won nine games for the second straight season. Nubin had 53 total tackles, five interceptions and four passes defended in the 2023 season. Minnesota won six games, making their third straight bowl game with Nubin providing an impact.

Following the season Nubin entered his name in the 2024 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a day two pick.

Tyler Nubin Strengths

Nubin excels in coverage in a few different ways. He shows solid man coverage with the ability to flip his hips well to mirror receiver. In zone coverage, he shows good eye balance between the quarterback and receiver. He has solid range and can be trusted in single high or double high coverage.

His ball skills are pretty unique for this safety class. He uses his good eye-balance well to know where the ball is going. Nubin breaks on the ball well and tracks it well in the air. He attacks the catchpoint and can come down with an interception or a pass defended.

He has good play diagnoses as well. Nubin can read where run plays are going to help out. On passing plays, he shows good route recognition. His experience pays off, as he puts himself in good position because of his awareness.

Tyler Nubin Weaknesses

Nubin could do a better job shedding blocks to help against the run. He can see where plays are going, but can take better angles to the football in order to be more of a factor against the run. Nubin is more of a deep safety than one who can help in the box.

Whether it is against the run or the pass, Nubin could be a more consistent tackler. He has decent size, so he’ll need to focus on having better form tackling and show more willingness to end plays with a good hit.

He has decent enough range as a deep safety, but his athleticism and burst are not elite. Nubin could be a little quicker and have more long speed. A lot of his ability as a deep safety comes because of his awareness.

Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Third Round Pick

Draft Grade: Second Round Pick
